...it's much easier to haul old computer equipment. What you're looking at is 7 computer towers, 7 keyboards, and 2 printers in the back of a 2009 Forester. There's also an flat panel monitor somewhere in there. There were 7 CRT monitors for those towers, but there was no way that was happening. Those stayed right were they were found.

The ride back was a bit interesting. In retrospect, the keyboards could have been secured better.

I now have a better appreciation of how the rear of the Forester would look lowered.

A good friend of mine and I have been fixing up computers in our spare time since high school. Some of the equipment will go to high school students in need, some will be sold at a local yard sale, some will go into our personal collections, and the rest will be junked.

I was confused as to hy it as lowered but them remebered that the old technology weighed a lot! How do you like your Forester? We are thinking of getting the new one...

I do the same with my sx4, but I load up on old computers from my work and junk them.
I am the whole IT department, we have offices in 8 cities and staff about 100

I love the Forester, it's a great car and pretty much the only crossover I'd ever consider.

I can't squeeze a 6'x4' sheet of wood in there though... if it was 5.5' it would definitely fit though.

After seeing the infinite uses our Outback and Forester have, and our old Passat and Taurus wagons had, I can't see owning anything else as a daily driver.

The hatchback of my Focus ZX-3 is its only redeeming factor. This summer I had to pick up some barricades for our neighborhoods block party. The guy at the loading dock said there was no way in hell I'd fit them in my car, but I did, with the hatch closed. The car was riding pretty low, too, but I just love how much shit you can fit inside them. There's this wagon for sale, and if I had the $$$ I'd be really tempted to pick it up and shit can the Ford.

I just did the math, and I believe that load was close to 220 lbs. It would have been over 500 lbs if we took the monitors!

Our Forester has been great. It is a very versatile and capable vehicle. There isn't a driving situation I've found so far where it feels out of place, both in good and bad weather. That includes city driving, highway driving, and some light off-roading. While it has the ground clearance to tackle light to moderate trails, it feels like a much lower and smaller car in terms of maneuverability and handling. It's definitely the best handling non-performance car I've ever driven. Reliability wise, we haven't had any issues. The only complaint we have is with the fuel economy, which has been improved with the new generation. I haven't driven the new generation, but I believe it is about the same, if not better in most of these areas. The biggest improvement is the interior fit and finish and build quality. The new Forester has a higher level of refinement about it that the previous generation just doesn't have. I noticed that as soon as I opened the driver's door.

Our Forester has been great, and is a personal favorite of mine. The only other crossover/wagon I would consider would be the Outback. If you can get past the looks, it is also a great vehicle. The 3.6L flat-6 certainly helps.

I believe we've fit a 6'x4' sheet of wood in the Outback before. The only shortcoming of the cargo area of the Forester is that it could stand to be just a little bit deeper.

A quarter to a half of everything we get ends up as junk, and don't get nearly the amount of computers that it sounds like you do. Anything newer goes to a better home, and anything that is interesting and still works, we save. Because of this, my collection has grown over the years. At the moment, I have 12 computers from 1986-2012.

Mhm, we had a 2009 and now a 2011 Forester... very happy with it. I let my friend drive it a few weeks ago and the first thing he said is "this handles a lot better than I'd ever expect."

dat turning radius

That's the reaction I first had; "how can something this high off the ground handle this well?"

The maneuverability of the Forester never fails to impress me.
